Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Bulgaria

Dr. Huseyn Huseynov is Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Bulgaria

In 2019-2021, he was the director of the “Analyses and Strategic Studies” Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In 2015-2018, he was deputy head of the “Analyses and Strategic Researches” department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In 2012-2015, he was advisor (deputy representative of the mission) in the Delegation of Azerbaijan to NATO, responsible for the political dimensions and security aspects of the bilateral partnership between Azerbaijan and NATO.

In 2009-2011, he was the first secretary of the “Foreign Policy Planning and Strategic Studies” department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and led the activities of the “Foreign Policy Planning” department.

From 2005 to 2008, he served in the representation of Azerbaijan to the European Union. His portfolio includes political and politico-military issues.

In 2001-2005, he held several positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, responsible for regional security, crisis management and conflict resolution.

In 1999–2001, he was the head of the Public Relations and External Relations Department of the Student Council of Azerbaijan under the Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan.

He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science from the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, holds a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in International Relations (with honors) from the Baku Institute of Social Management and Political Science.

His interests range from foreign policy, history, international security, conflict resolution and crisis management.

He is married and has two children.
