Dr. Dimitar Georgiev

Dr. Georgiev is one of the ideators and co-founders of Biotech Atelier, an annual conference, supplemented with satellite events and workshops throughout the year, that aims to unlock the growth and development potential of the biotech ecosystem. Biotech Atelier brings together scientists, business leaders, international experts and influential think tanks to network, exchange and generate new ideas for innovation, entrepreneurship and business development in biotechnology.

Dr. Georgiev holds a PhD in Medicine from the Medical University of Sofia (medical specialty “Obstetrics and Gynecology”) and a Master’s degree in Health Management from the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) in Sofia, Bulgaria.

He has more than 20 years of crucial experience in managing, advising and carrying out various activities in the health and life sciences sector – clinical trials for pharmaceutical development and approval, cord blood stem cell collection and storage, product introduction and service provision for laboratory and genetic research, forensic medicine, pharmacological and cosmetic surveillance in Bulgaria, structured financing for innovative projects, prenatal and companion diagnostics (tests directly to

Besides being a Bulgarian biotechnology entrepreneur, Dr. Georgiev is also one of the pioneers in the field of personalized medicine in the country. He is one of the founders of the Bulgarian Association for Personalized Medicine (BAPEMED) and actively participates in various projects and activities of the association.

Dr. Georgiev has been principal investigator in several clinical trials and validation studies related to multiple therapeutic areas: women’s health, oncology, infectious diseases, etc. He has also participated in the development of many projects as a medical and scientific consultant.

His main interests are related to innovative solutions and technological advances in health and life sciences.
