Andrey Novakov

Member of the group of the European People's Party in the EP

Andrey Novakov is a Bulgarian politician from the GERB party and MEP in the group of the European People’s Party (EPP) since 2014. In 2023, Andrei Novakov entered the prestigious ranking “Top 100 of the most influential MEPs” – EUmatrix. The fight for the rights of the transport industry has been one of Novakov’s great causes over the years. For the first time in the history of the European Parliament, on its initiative, more than 44 thousand signatures were collected against the queues at the borders, regarding defending the interests of drivers, transporters and residents of border areas.

When he took office, he was the youngest member of the European Parliament and one of the youngest in the history of the institution. Laureate of Forbes magazine’s “30 under 30” ranking of the most successful young people in Europe, category “Politics”. He is the creator of the first Bulgarian program of the EU – A.L.E.C.O.

On October 6, 2015, the European Parliament approved the “Novakov” report, after which Bulgaria received 6.377 million euros in financial aid to deal with the consequences of the floods and the severe winter in the same year.

He is the author and submitter of a report on the allocation of 380,000 euros for technical assistance to the largest EU fund to support laid-off workers – the European Globalization Adjustment Fund.

In January 2017, he was elected as the vice-coordinator of the European People’s Party in the Commission for Regional Development of the EP, and in July 2019 as the coordinator.
