Founder and Director, ManEco Foundation

GTF Youth Forum, Green Transition Forum 6.0

Vihren Mitev holds a Ph.D. in Philosophical Anthropology from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski," where his dissertation explored the concept of personality and the importance of the ecological and economic context — the oikos — in which it exists. He also holds a Master's degree in Global Studies, focused on the existential consequences of modernization, and a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy. Early in his career, he interned at the Bulgarian Diplomatic Institute under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and worked for the Atlantic Club of Bulgaria as project manager and personal assistant to Dr. Solomon Passy. He also participated in two Erasmus+ exchange programs, spending time at the University of Jules Verne in Amiens, France, and the University of Huế in Vietnam.

While completing his doctoral studies, Mitev authored the Ecological Manifesto in 2017 — a text calling on humanity to change its attitude toward nature and people in need. The manifesto quickly gained international attention, being presented at scientific and environmental conferences in Ireland, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Austria, France, Romania, Vietnam, and the United States, among other countries. In April 2018, it became the foundation for the establishment of the "Ecological Manifesto – ManEco" Foundation, dedicated to a broad spectrum of ecological projects raising public awareness about climate change, plastic pollution, and consumerism.

As the author of the Ecological Manifesto and founder and director of the ManEco Foundation, Mitev has dedicated his work to raising awareness on topics such as climate change, just transition, and the circular economy, with the goal of shifting people's behaviors toward a more sustainable, energy- and resource-efficient, and waste-free future. He also serves as a Climate Pact Ambassador for Bulgaria. In 2019, he represented Bulgaria at the UN Climate Conference (COP 25) in Madrid and participated in lobbying initiatives in the European Parliament. That same year, he took part in the U.S. Department of State Professional Fellows Program, where he studied community organizing and participatory democracy at the Ecology Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
