Csaba Borboly is the Vice-President of the Harghita County Council in Romania, having previously served as its President from 2008 to 2024. A prominent representative of local and regional governance in South-East Europe, his work centers heavily on regional development, rural sustainability, and environmental protection.
Since 2012, Csaba has been an active member of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR), where he sits on the Commission for the Environment, Climate Change and Energy (ENVE) and serves as the Second Vice-Chair of the Commission for Social Policy, Education, Employment, Research and Culture (SEDEC). He is also an Ambassador for the EU Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy. Within the EU framework, he frequently acts as a rapporteur on critical regional policy files, steering European initiatives on the Green Deal, biodiversity conservation and water management.
