Apostol Dyankov is the Head of the Climate and Energy Department at Sofia Municipality. An expert in urban resilience and environmental policy, his work focuses on advancing data-driven climate governance, digital innovation—such as utilizing urban digital twins to mitigate climate risks—and integrating climate budgeting into municipal finance.
Prior to joining Sofia Municipality, Apostol served as the Head of the Department of Climate Policy Coordination at the Bulgarian Ministry of Environment and Water (MOEW). He has a rich background in the non-profit and educational sectors, having spent over a decade leading green economy and climate initiatives for WWF Bulgaria and WWF Central and Eastern Europe. Additionally, he works as an instructor and mentor in green entrepreneurship programs, helping companies and institutions implement sustainable, nature-based solutions.
