Liburn Aliu

Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure of the Republic of Kosovo

Liburn Aliu was born on April 10, 1975 in Prishtina. He attended primary school in the school “Hasan Prishtina”, secondary school in the school “Xhevdet Doda”, and higher university studies at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture at the University of Prishtina. Liburni has worked as an architect in high design and construction, and has been engaged in the restoration of valuable cultural heritage monuments. He has also served as director of the Directorate of Urbanism in the Municipality of Prishtina, where he is known for his work in the digitalization of urbanism, standardization of building permits, and for bringing urban order in the city of Prishtina.

Liburn Aliu started his political activity in 1994 with activities within the National Movement for the Liberation of Kosovo. He was a political prisoner and a survivor of the Dubrava Massacre. Part of the VETËVENDOSJE Movement! it is since its inception, contributing to the advancement of the right to internal and external self-determination that belongs to Kosovo. Liburni has also been part of every legislature since VETËVENDOSJE! participates in elections. In the last elections, he won the mandate of deputy for the 5th time, from where he later resigned to exercise his new duty and responsibility, which he now has, as Minister of the Ministry of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure. On March 23, 2021, Liburn Aliu officially becomes Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure.
