Ani Kodjabasheva

Writer and founder of the Collective Foundation

Ani Kodjabasheva is project director of the Collective Foundation, which works for change towards more beautiful and greener cities together with citizens, artists, businesses and institutions. The Collective Foundation started in 2020 with the Rivers of Sofia initiative. It grew into Rivers of the City and already has editions in Ruse, Gabrovo, Stara Zagora and Veliko Tarnovo, where together with the local communities it works to bring the Bulgarian cities and rivers together.

Another initiative of the organization is 100 Chairs, which opens inaccessible and neglected urban spaces to people.
In 2022 and 2023 for two years in a row, the Collective Foundation became a finalist of the EU Green Design Awards “New European Bauhaus”, and in 2022 it won the Grand Prix of the Europa Nostra Awards, the most prestigious award for conservation and activation of cultural heritage in Europe.

Ani holds MAs in Art History with a focus on Modern Architecture and Urbanism from the University of Oxford and from the Columbia University in New York.
