Green Transition Forum 2025, Green Transition Forum 6.0
Victor Negrescu is a prominent Romanian politician, academic, and expert in European affairs. Currently serving as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) representing the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D), he is Vice-Chair of the Committee on Culture and Education and a member of the Committee on Budgets. His policy focus lies in education, digital transformation, and youth entrepreneurship. A former Minister Delegate for European Affairs (2017–2018), he played a key role in Romania’s preparations for its first Presidency of the Council of the European Union. During his ministerial term, he actively worked to enhance the absorption of EU funds and strengthen Romania’s role within the European framework. Since returning to the European Parliament in February 2020 – following the redistribution of seats after Brexit – Negrescu has secured €7.8 million in funding for pilot projects in education, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Over both mandates, he has successfully initiated projects that have mobilised close to €60 million in EU investment, making him one of Romania’s most impactful MEPs in terms of funding and results. Combining his academic background with a strategic vision for policy-making, Victor Negrescu remains a leading voice in the pursuit of a more inclusive, innovative, and future-oriented Europe.
