Ventzislav Vassilev is an expert in biodiversity conservation and water management with more than 25 years of experience in environmental policy, ecosystem restoration, and sustainable infrastructure. He holds a Master’s degree in Ecology and a postgraduate degree in GIS applications in environmental protection and forestry.
Since 2002, he has collaborated with the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation. Between 2010 and 2017, he served as Country Director for Bulgaria at the Regional Environmental Centre for Central and Eastern Europe.
His work has focused on ecosystem conservation, green infrastructure and the management and restoration of aquatic ecosystems, with particular expertise in the development and promotion of Nature-based Solutions. Since 2018, he has worked as a consultant for EIB/JASPERS, supporting the assessment of environmental compliance and climate resilience of EU-funded infrastructure projects, including water and wastewater systems and regional waste management initiatives. He also has experience as a consultant for the LIFE Programme.
