Traycho Traykov is a distinguished Bulgarian economist, politician, and energy expert who served as the Minister of Energy in the caretaker government in early 2026. With over 30 years of professional and managerial experience spanning both the private and public sectors, his administration focused heavily on mitigating critical regional energy risks.
Traykov began his career in international management consultancy and corporate energy, holding key executive positions at EVN Bulgaria where he led major integration and utility restructuring processes. He previously served as the Minister of Economy, Energy, and Tourism from 2009 to 2012. Transitioning to local governance, he was twice elected as the Mayor of Sofia’s central Sredets district, serving from 2019 until early 2026. He holds a degree in International Economic Relations from the University of National and World Economy in Sofia, with specialized training in financial control and corporate management in Germany and Austria.
