Tomislav Tomašević is a Croatian politician, activist, and environmentalist who has been serving as the Mayor of Zagreb since June 4, 2021. Born on January 13, 1982, in Zagreb, he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Zagreb in 2006 and a master’s degree in Environment, Society, and Development from the University of Cambridge in 2013.  At the age of 16, he joined the environmental organization Green Action, later becoming its president (2007–2012). He also served as the president of the Croatian Youth Network.  In 2017, he was elected to the Zagreb City Assembly, and in 2020, he became a member of the Croatian Parliament.  In 2021, he won the mayoral election in Zagreb with 63.87% of the vote, setting a record for the highest number of votes received by a mayoral candidate in the city’s history.  Tomašević is a co-founder and leader of the local political platform “Zagreb is OURS!” and the national coalition “We Can!”, advocating for social justice, environmental sustainability, and transparent governance.
