Teodor Radonov has been leading the European Investment Bank (EIB) Group's office in Bulgaria since March 2021. With over eight years of experience at the European Investment Fund (EIF), he specialized in structured finance, securitization, and guarantee products across various jurisdictions within and outside the EU. Radonov has been involved in structuring and implementing several EIF financial instruments in Bulgaria and has held various analytical roles in the financial sector.
Under his leadership, the EIB has significantly increased its presence in Bulgaria, with the Group's lending volume exceeding €1.1 billion in 2023, mobilizing investments amounting to €5.4 billion. The bank has also expanded its funding for security and defense projects, planning to double the resources allocated for such initiatives in 2025.
Radonov actively works on developing the venture capital ecosystem in Bulgaria. Over the past 12 years, with the support of the EIB and EIF, 13 funds have been established in the country with capital of nearly €150 million, attracting additional private investments of €300 million. Under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, the creation of 8 to 10 more funds is expected, aiming to mobilize an additional €500 million for innovative companies.
Teodor Radonov holds a degree in finance from the University of Sophia Antipolis in France and is fluent in English, French, and Spanish.
