vitlana Vasylivna Hrynchuk is a Ukrainian politician and expert in energy, climate change, and environmental protection. Since September 5, 2024, she has been serving as the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine. Previously, she held positions as Deputy Minister of Energy (2023–2024) and Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources (2022–2023) .
Born on November 11, 1985, in Chernivtsi, Ukraine, Hrynchuk graduated from the Chernivtsi Institute of Trade and Economics in 2008 with a degree in Finance. In 2013, she defended her Ph.D. thesis and earned the title of Candidate of Economic Sciences.
From 2016 to 2019, she headed the Department for Climate Change and Ozone Layer Protection at the Ministry of Environment, overseeing the ratification and implementation of the Paris Agreement and Ukraine’s international obligations under the Kyoto and Montreal Protocols . In 2019, she served as an adviser to the Prime Minister on environmental and climate change issues, and in 2020, as an adviser to the Minister of Finance.
As minister, Hrynchuk focuses on assessing environmental damage from the war, which exceeds 2.6 trillion hryvnias, and developing mechanisms to hold perpetrators accountable for environmental crimes. She emphasizes the need for international support to restore ecosystems and prevent future environmental disasters .
