Raphaël Héliot is Senior Policy Manager at E-Mobility Europe — the trade association representing the entire European electric vehicle ecosystem, formerly known as AVERE. Within his work, he advocates for the promotion of legislative and non-legislative European initiatives aimed at supporting the deployment of e-mobility, and is involved in several expert groups and forums of the European Commission, including EAFO and the Sustainable Transport Forum, where he leads work on charging infrastructure deployment, EV rollout, and more sectoral issues including fire safety, skills, grid integration, and urban mobility. Prior to this role, he worked in consultancies on transport-related topics.
Héliot graduated from the College of Europe in Natolin, where his studies focused on European energy policy and the European Neighbourhood Policy. He speaks French, English, and Italian.
He has been an active commentator on vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology, noting that European policymakers — particularly in Brussels — recognise the necessity of rapidly integrating renewable energy into the grid, and that electric vehicles acting as "batteries on wheels" and discharging excess power back into the grid at times of peak demand represent a clear and immediate value case for V2G systems. He has also highlighted that regulatory clarity and stable frameworks are essential to unlocking additional value within the charging infrastructure sector and encouraging investment in smart charging and V2G capabilities.
