Prof. Dr. Kalin Kalinov

Flotilla Admiral Prof. Dr. Kalin Kalinov is a Bulgarian naval officer and academic with extensive experience in naval education and submarine operations. He was born on October 18, 1968, in Dobrich, Bulgaria. In 1991, he graduated from the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy with a degree in “Management of Tactical Units in the Navy,” ranking first in his class. In 2002, he completed his studies at the “G. S. Rakovski” Military Academy with a specialization in “Management of Operational-Tactical Units in the Navy,” again as the top graduate. In 2007, he earned a doctoral degree in “Organization and Management of Armed Forces” . His military career began as a commander of a navigation combat unit on a submarine, progressing through various command positions, including commander of the submarine “Slava.” In 2003, he commenced his academic career at the “G. S. Rakovski” Military Academy, serving as assistant, senior assistant, chief assistant, and associate professor. In 2011, he became the Deputy Rector for Academic and Scientific Affairs at the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy. On October 8, 2024, he was appointed as the Rector of the Academy and promoted to the rank of Flotilla Admiral . Prof. Kalinov is the author of numerous scientific publications and actively participates in international projects related to maritime security and education. Under his leadership, the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy continues to develop as a leading educational institution both nationally and internationally.
