Murad Heydarov

Murad Heydarov serves as the Executive Director of SOCAR for the Balkans, overseeing the Azerbaijani state oil company's strategic energy projects in the region. Under his leadership, SOCAR has established offices in Bulgaria and Albania, expanding its presence in Southeast Europe. ​ In Bulgaria, Heydarov coordinates initiatives to develop an internal gas distribution network, including signing a memorandum with Asarel Investment to enhance access to natural gas. In 2024, SOCAR began supplying natural gas to schools and kindergartens in the Ruse region through the pilot project "Hybrid Gasification." In Albania, Heydarov leads the "Nur" project to gasify the city of Korça, aiming to provide natural gas to local businesses and households by the end of 2026. The project is implemented in partnership with the Albanian government and Albgaz. With experience in both the public and private sectors, Murad Heydarov plays a pivotal role in SOCAR's efforts to strengthen energy security and sustainable development in the Balkans.​
