Mathieu Bousquet

Mathieu Bousquet is the Director for Enlargement Coordination, Strategy and Investments at the Directorate-General for Enlargement and Eastern Neighbourhood (DG ENEST) of the European Commission. His Directorate coordinates the accession process as well as the overall policy coherence of DG ENEST’s political mandate, drives the DG’s engagement with the private sector and International Financial Institutions, and supports the programming of EU financial assistance in the Western Balkans and Eastern Neighbourhood. Since 1st February 2025, he also serves as Acting Deputy Director-General. Over a career in Africa, Asia, and Brussels, Mathieu Bousquet has proven experience in strategic thinking, policy formulation, and effective implementation. He is committed to fostering positive change and sustainable development in the EU’s partner countries, with a particular passion for supporting the green transition and connectivity, fostering good governance, and advancing gender equality.
