Eng. Martin Georgiev is Executive Director of the National Electrical Company since May 2022. He previously held the position of Regional Manager for the Southern Balkans at the Swiss electricity production and trading company Alpiq, as well as a member of the board of directors of a joint venture between Alpiq and the Greek state-owned energy company Public Power Corporation. Prior to that, he was a key account manager at Aare-Tessin Ltd. for Electricity at the holding company's headquarters in Switzerland. He led the "Restructuring and Liberalization of the Electricity Market in Bulgaria" program in collaboration with the American University in Bulgaria. He has consulted for EON Energie Germany on the restructuring of their energy company in Bulgaria. Between 2013 and 2022, hе was chairman of the Association of Energy Traders in Bulgaria.
Georgiev holds a Master's degree in Business Administration (executive MBA) from the American University in Bulgaria, as well as a Master's degree from the Faculty of Automation at the Technical University of Sofia. He is a certified spot trader from the European Energy Exchange (EEX).
