Marian-Jean Marinescu
TEN-T Coordinator, Western Balkan - Eastern Mediterranean
Born on August 11, 1952. As the Member of the European Parliament in the Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN), Mr Marinescu acted as rapporteur on various files focusing on transport, connectivity and infrastructure issues, and was actively involved in various committees and delegations within the European Parliament.
Mr. Marinescu oversees since September 2024 one of the most strategic corridors on the trans-European transport network (TEN-T), which links central European Member States with the maritime interfaces of the Adriatic and East Mediterranean Seas (incl. Aegean and Ionian Seas), through the Western Balkans.
His work is crucial in enhancing connectivity, facilitating trade, and promoting sustainable transport across this important geographical area. With his extensive experience, Mr. Marinescu brings a wealth of knowledge and a strong commitment to fostering regional integration and cooperation within the EU's transport framework. His leadership will continuously contribute to the integration of the Western Balkans into the European transport network, supporting economic development and ensuring that the region is well connected.
