Lucien Mathieu is the Cars Director at Transport & Environment (T&E), a leading NGO campaigning for cleaner transport and energy in Europe. Based in Brussels, he is responsible for coordinating the organisation’s work on cars and automotive policy.
Together with his team, Lucien promotes European policies and regulations aimed at accelerating transport electrification, reducing vehicle emissions, and decarbonising the automotive sector. His work focuses on key initiatives such as the EU car CO₂ standards, EU charging infrastructure legislation, and the Industrial Accelerator Act.
He joined T&E in December 2017 following an internship at Tesla in Amsterdam, where he worked on policies and programmes supporting electro-mobility.
Lucien Mathieu is also a board member of the standards organisation ECOS and holds a degree in general engineering from École Centrale de Lyon in France.
