Kumi Kitamori has been serving as the Deputy Director of the Environment Directorate at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) since September 2022. In this role, she supports the Director in overseeing the work of the Environment Directorate, which provides relevant information, analysis, and advice to governments on policies needed to support a cleaner, more resource-efficient, and low-carbon green growth path, in coordination with other directorates and international organisations.
Previously, from 2015 to 2022, Kitamori headed the Green Growth & Global Relations Division, where she oversaw the mainstreaming of green growth in the work of various OECD policy committees and in member and partner countries, including in Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia.
Prior to joining the OECD in 2000, Kitamori worked at the World Bank on industrial pollution and urban infrastructure projects in South and Southeast Asia. She holds a BA from New York University and an MSc from the London School of Economics.
