Joel Myers is an IT engineer, entrepreneur, and international technologist specializing in innovative solutions for Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Smart Cities. He works globally with governments, universities (Harvard, UCLA, Politecnico di Milano, etc.), and industry, including Google.
He founded HoozAround Corp. (USA), which developed Hoozie™, an “Internet of People” platform using a micro-currency (Hoozies™) to boost local economies, piloted by the State of Jalisco, Mexico. The platform provides real-time urban intelligence, digital payments, and carbon credit rewards for public transport users.
As Chair of the IEEE IoT Initiative for Smart Cities and leader of the Global Cities Alliance, Myers promotes a people-centric, multidisciplinary approach to digital urban transformation and the development of global smart city standards.
