Jan Dusík is a highly respected environmental policy leader with extensive experience in international climate diplomacy, sustainable development, and environmental governance. Since September 2024, he has served as Deputy Director-General of the Directorate-General for Climate Action (DG CLIMA) at the European Commission in Brussels. He holds a Master of Science in Environmental Change from the University of Oxford, and both a Doctor of Law (JUDr.) and a Master of Law (Mgr.) from Charles University in Prague. Dusík has held numerous senior leadership positions within the Ministry of Environment of the Czech Republic, including serving as Minister of Environment (2009–2010), Deputy Minister, Director General for Strategy and Legislation, and most recently as Government Envoy for International Climate Negotiations and Adviser on Climate Diplomacy. His long-standing engagement in EU and UN climate frameworks positions him as a key figure in shaping climate policy across Europe and beyond. At the international level, Dusík served as Regional Director and Representative for Europe at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) from 2011 to 2017 and continued as Principal Adviser on Strategic Arctic and Antarctic Engagement until 2019. He also held senior roles in the WWF Arctic Programme, focusing on governance and sustainability. Earlier in his career, he contributed to European environmental law as founder and senior partner of the Environmental Law Service and worked extensively on EU integration issues as Director of the European Integration Department at the Czech Ministry of Environment. Fluent in Czech (native), English, French, Russian, and Slovak, Jan Dusík is a leading European voice on climate action and sustainability transitions, with a proven record in public policy, multilateral negotiation, and institutional leadership.
