Ivailo Kalfin has served as Executive Director of the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound) since 1 June 2021. According to Eurofound’s official profile, his expertise covers labour markets, social policy, global political trends, EU affairs and budgeting, as well as digital transformation.
Before taking leadership of Eurofound, he was Director of the Institute for Economics and International Relations in Sofia. Throughout his political and institutional career, he has held several senior public positions in Bulgaria and within the European Union.
He has served as Deputy Prime Minister of Bulgaria, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Labour and Social Policy, and Member of the European Parliament. His work has focused on European integration, labour relations, social policy, and the development of public institutions.
