Iliya Lingorski is a member of the Governing Council of the Bulgarian National Bank Eurosystem and a Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bulgarian Mint. He also serves on the Research and Publishing Council of BNB-Eurosystem. Among other duties, he has served as Deputy Minister of Finance and Head of the State Treasury, Alternate Governor for Bulgaria of the International Monetary Fund, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Encouragement Bank, Chief Economist of the Bulgarian Development Bank, Board Director of the Three Seas Initiative Investment Fund, and Board Member of the Banking Consolidation Company in Bulgaria. He started his career in fixed income in the 1990s at the EBRD Risk Control in London. He was later a Vice-President, Head of Fixed Income Risk and Director at Renaissance Capital in Moscow and London, before returning to the EBRD as Manager for Financial Policy and Strategic Planning.
Iliya Lingorski is an alumnus of the Study of the United States Institute in Economics and Business of the Department of State of the United States of America and formerly served as a trustee and a University Council member of the American University in Bulgaria. He graduated with honours from the Sofia University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy and conducted his postgraduate research in Artificial Intelligence at Oxford. He is currently a lecturer at the Department of Economics of the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, where he is completing a doctorate on Economic Convergence in the Euro area.
