Hans Grünfeld is President of IFIEC Europe and Managing Director of Royal VEMW, the Dutch association representing industrial energy consumers.
He has extensive experience in the liberalisation and integration of European gas and electricity markets. He has worked at VEMW since 1999, focusing on energy policy, industrial competitiveness, and the representation of energy-intensive industries across Europe.
Before joining VEMW, Hans Grünfeld worked as a researcher at McKinsey & Company and as a policy analyst at RAND Europe.
He previously served as President of IFIEC Europe from 2007 to 2011 and was reappointed in June 2025 to lead the organisation representing industrial energy consumers in Europe.
