Grozdan Karadjov
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications
Grozdan Karadjov is a prominent Bulgarian politician and public administration expert with extensive experience in the fields of transport, communications and institutional reform. Since January 2025, he has served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications in the cabinet of Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov. Previously, he held the position of Minister of Regional Development and Public Works and Deputy Prime Minister in the government of Kiril Petkov (2021–2022).
Born in Stara Zagora, Karadjov graduated from the First English Language High School in Sofia and later earned a degree in Law from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski." He completed a postgraduate specialisation in Business Management in Telecommunications in Tokyo, Japan.
Karadjov began his public engagement as an early civil society activist, serving as President of the Independent Student Association at the Law Faculty and co-founding the Bulgarian Association for Fair Elections. He held several leadership roles at the Open Society Institute in Sofia.
His public administration career began in 1997 as Secretary General of the Committee on Posts and Telecommunications. During the government of Prime Minister Ivan Kostov, he served as Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport. Until 2004, he represented the state on the Board of the Bulgarian Telecommunications Company (BTC) and was also a member of the Supervisory Board of Bulgarian Post Bank.
As a Member of Parliament in both the 43rd and 49th National Assemblies, Karadjov chaired and actively contributed to the work of the Committee on Transport, Information Technologies and Communications.
Known for his strategic leadership, integrity and dedication to modernising Bulgaria’s transport and digital infrastructure, Grozdan Karadjov plays a key role in advancing national connectivity and sustainable development policies.
