Georgi Dobrev is a seasoned energy expert and senior executive with a distinguished career in Bulgaria’s strategic energy sector. Since 2025, he has served as the Executive Officer of the National Electric Company (NEK) – the country’s key electricity producer and regulated market supplier, playing a central role in ensuring Bulgaria’s energy security and infrastructure stability.
With a background in law and additional specialisations in economics and management, Mr Dobrev brings a unique combination of legal, regulatory, and executive expertise to the energy field. Over the years, he has held senior positions within the Bulgarian Energy Holding (BEH) and served on the boards of various state-owned enterprises, including Kozloduy NPP – New Build and the National Energy Operator.
His career also includes tenure as a Commissioner at the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC), where he contributed to key regulatory reforms in the energy sector. He is recognised for his in-depth understanding of market liberalisation processes, nuclear energy development, and regulatory governance.
