Fatma Varank serves as the Deputy Minister of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change of the Republic of Türkiye. With a solid background in architecture, sustainable urban planning, and public housing development, she is a leading figure in shaping Türkiye’s environmental and climate policies on both national and international levels.
Born in Zonguldak and originally from Trabzon, Varank graduated from the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture at Trakya University. Her career spans over two decades in strategic roles at KİPTAŞ, TOKİ, and Emlak Konut, later progressing to senior positions at the Ministry. Since 2018, she has been Deputy Minister, overseeing climate action, zero-waste policies, and international environmental cooperation.
Fatma Varank is a key representative of Türkiye in major global forums such as COP29, the G20 Environment Ministers’ Meeting, and the Turkish-German Climate Committee. She advocates for net-zero emissions by 2053, circular economy transformation, and large-scale environmental awareness programs.
