Eng. Ivan Ivanov is a leading expert with over 20 years of experience in the water sector. He serves as the Chairman of the Bulgarian Water Association (BWA), where he leads and participates in numerous international projects related to environmental and water protection, such as Tethys, Danube Water Balance, BOOST-IN, and Danube Hazard m3c.  His professional career includes executive positions in key organizations: procurator of “Sofiyska Voda” JSC (part of Veolia), Chairman of the Management Board of “Bulgarian WSS Holding” EAD, and Executive Director of the non-profit association “Industrial Cluster Underground Infrastructure” (ICPI). He has also been a member of the Monitoring Committee of the Operational Programme “Environment” 2014–2020.  Ivanov holds a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy (UCTM) in Sofia. He graduated from the French Language High School “Alphonse de Lamartine”. He also holds an MBA from the Francophone Institute for Administration and Management (IFAG) and the American University in Bulgaria (AUBG). He specialized at the National Higher Institute of Chemical Technology (ENSIGC) in Toulouse, France.  Currently, he combines his commitments to BWA with his role as the manager of the “Dams and Cascades” enterprise at the National Electric Company (NEK). He is a member of the working groups on drinking and wastewater, as well as on legal and economic issues of the European Federation of National Associations of Water Services (EurEau). He is also part of the board of trustees of UCTM – Sofia and the Foundation for the Development of the Water Sector.
