Emil Angelov worked in the banking and financial sector for over 30 years before he joined
Glavbolgarstroy Holding in January 2024. Throughout his professional career, he held senior
management positions in various Bulgarian and international banking and leasing groups.
After 2019, Emil Angelov changed his primary professional focus and switched to the real
estate and construction sector again in senior managerial positions.
Angelov has extensive experience in Asset Management, being a founder, board member,
and shareholder of one of Bulgaria's first Asset Management companies, licensed by the
Financial Supervisory Commission in 2005. In 2007, he also became a member of the
Supervisory Board of Piraeus Bank Ukraine, and in 2021, he became a Chairman of the
Supervisory Board. In 2010, in parallel with his responsibilities as Deputy CEO of Piraeus Bank
Bulgaria, he undertook the position of CEO and member of the Board of Directors of Piraeus
Leasing Bulgaria, Piraeus Best Leasing, and Piraeus Auto Leasing. He kept this role until the
successful sale of the companies to a local financial investor in 2016.
In 2016, Emil Angelov became CEO of Piraeus Bank Bulgaria. He maintained this position
until June 2019, when Piraeus Bank SA, Greece, sold the Bank's shares to EFG Eurobank,
Greece. Under his management, Piraeus Bank Bulgaria achieved sustainable results and
profitability. In March 2020, Emil Angelov was approved as Non-Executive Director of Mega
Ploutos AIF, Cyprus, a financial institution regulated by CySEC.
