Dr. Eng. Iliya Garkov is Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Dundee Precious Metals. He has extensive international experience in the mining industry, gained across Bulgaria, Australia, and Armenia.
He joined Dundee Precious Metals following the acquisition of the company’s assets in Bulgaria in 2003 and has since held various senior leadership positions within the organisation. In 2024, he was appointed Chief Operating Officer of the company.
Dr. Garkov is a professional engineer holding both Master’s and PhD degrees in Mining Engineering from the University of Mining and Geology St. Ivan Rilski in Sofia. He has also completed the Senior Executive Programme at London Business School.
His professional work is focused on mining operations management, sustainable resource development, and the implementation of international standards within the mining sector.
