Dimitar Nikolov

Dimitar Nikolov is a Bulgarian economist and politician who has been serving as the Mayor of Burgas Municipality since November 11, 2007. Born on May 18, 1967, in Burgas, he holds a degree in economics from the Economic University in Moscow, a master’s degree in financial management from the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics in Svishtov, and professional diplomas and certificates in management from the Open University and New Bulgarian University.
Prior to his mayoral tenure, Nikolov was the Executive Director of “Pobeda” JSC (1998–2006) and Manager of “KBC” Ltd. – Burgas (2006). He has also held various public positions, including Deputy Chairman of the Burgas Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chairman of the Consultative Business Council in Burgas, Chairman of the Commission for Economy and Investments in the Burgas Municipal Council, and Regional Representative of the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria (KRIB) for the Burgas region.
In 2007, he was elected Mayor of Burgas from the GERB party and has been re-elected consecutively in 2011, 2015, 2019, and 2023, winning 60.5% of the votes in the latest election. He is the longest-serving mayor of Burgas.
Nikolov is married and has three children.
