Dietmar Preinstorfer

Dietmar Preinstorfer is an Austrian expert in energy policy and international energy regulation. He has served as Director of International Relations at Austria’s energy regulatory authority, E-Control, since 2005. In 2021, he was appointed Vice President of the Council of European Energy Regulators (CEER).
Preinstorfer began his career in the Austrian Parliament as an assistant to the Vice President. He joined E-Control in 2001 and was seconded as a national expert to CEER from 2004 to 2005. He also served as Vice President and Treasurer of the Association of Issuing Bodies (AIB) between 2002 and 2004.
As Director of International Relations at E-Control, Preinstorfer oversees cooperation with key European and international organizations, including CEER, ERGEG, ECRB, ACER, and ERRA. He has led several EU-funded projects, including Twinning initiatives, and represents Austria as an alternate member of ACER’s Board of Regulators.
He holds a master’s degree in business administration from Karl-Franzens University in Graz, specializing in international management and organizational structures.
