Desislava Nikolova is Senior Economist at the World Bank, mapped to the Europe and
Central Asia region and based in Sofia. She holds a PhD and a Master’s degree in
Economics from the University of National and World Economy. In addition, she has an MA
in Economics from the Central European University and a research diploma from the
University of Oxford.
Desislava has worked as a macroeconomic analyst since 2000 for a variety of organizations,
including Internet Securities, the British Embassy in Sofia, Raiffeisenbank and the Institute
for Market Economics. Her professional interests are in the fields of monetary policy,
behavioral economics, regional convergence, and international finance.
