Christos Dimas is a Greek lawyer, academic and politician representing the New Democracy party. With more than a decade of continuous parliamentary service, he is recognised for his strategic role in shaping public policy across research, innovation, culture and finance. Since June 2024, he has served as Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance of Greece. Born in 1980, Dimas holds a Law degree from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He pursued postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom, earning a Master’s degree in Comparative Politics and a PhD in European Politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). His doctoral thesis focused on the role of institutional frameworks in reform processes, using the privatisation of national telecommunications in Greece and Ireland as case studies. Dimas has held academic roles at LSE and ICON College (University of Leicester), and was a research fellow at the Jean Monnet European Centre of Excellence. He has published in national and international journals, and prior to entering politics worked in the private sector as a business strategy consultant at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG). He was first elected to the Hellenic Parliament in 2012 from the region of Corinthia and has been re-elected ever since. From 2019 to 2023, he served as Deputy Minister of Development and Investments, responsible for Research and Innovation. Between 2023 and 2024, he was Deputy Minister of Culture, overseeing Contemporary Culture. Christos Dimas is regarded as a leading voice for Greece’s new generation of policymakers – combining academic excellence, international experience and a forward-looking vision. He is particularly focused on youth policy, digital transformation, science and culture. In his personal life, he enjoys football, basketball and reading history. He is married to lawyer Nikoletta Syreggela and they have two children.
