Andriana Sukova is a senior European official with extensive expertise in public administration, international development and socio-economic policy. Since 2018, she has served as Deputy Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, where she oversees strategic areas related to labour markets, social inclusion and sustainable growth across the EU.
She holds degrees in Agricultural Management and Economic Journalism from the University of National and World Economy in Sofia. Her academic and professional development includes specialised training at leading international institutions such as the Institute of Agricultural Economics in Sofia, the UK Civil Service College, the FAO in Rome, Obihiro University in Japan, Wye College (UK), and the Centre for European Studies in Sofia.
Sukova began her career as an economist and consultant on international development projects. She went on to serve in various senior positions at the Bulgarian Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, including as Deputy Minister. She later worked on agricultural development programmes at the World Bank’s regional office in Bulgaria, and held leadership roles as Executive Director of the Bulgarian International Business Association (BIBA) and the Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria (KRIB).
Fluent in English, Russian, Spanish and French, Andriana Sukova is widely respected for her contribution to EU policy-making, with a focus on social impact, inclusion, and long-term economic resilience.
