Andrej Lepavcov is a distinguished Macedonian engineer, diplomat, and academic who currently serves as President of the Engineering Institution of Macedonia. Born in 1972 in Skopje, he holds a BSc in civil engineering from the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje, and a PhD in technical sciences in civil engineering from the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy in Sofia, Bulgaria. Early in his career he served as Head of the Research Department and Deputy Director of the Water Development Institute of the Republic of Macedonia.
He has had a distinguished diplomatic career, serving as Spokesman of the late President of Macedonia Boris Trajkovski, Foreign Policy Adviser to the Office of the Prime Minister, and as Ambassador and Head of Mission of Macedonia to the European Union in Brussels from 2011 to 2017. Since 2024 he has served as Ambassador and Director of the Directorate for European Union at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. He has also held academic positions, teaching at the University American College Skopje and the University of Goce Delchev in Shtip.
As President of the Engineering Institution of Macedonia since 2024, Lepavcov chairs key decision-making sessions and represents the institution in national and international forums. The institution marked its centennial in 2020, commemorating 100 years since the founding of the first Macedonian Association of Engineers, and in 2024 officially declared March 21 as National Engineers' Day in Macedonia. He has been a vocal advocate for developing strategies to attract more students to technical faculties in North Macedonia.
