Svetlana Boyanova

Chairman of the Institute for Agricultural Strategies and Innovations and Head of the European Digital Innovation Hub AgroHub.BG, Executive Director of the Bulgarian Agrarian Chamber

Svetlana Boyanova is one of the leading experts in Bulgaria on the subject of Common Agricultural Policy. She graduated in law from the Burgas Free University and started her career as a chief expert in the Integration Policy Directorate at the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in January 2000. Already at that time, her focus was the Common Agricultural Policy, as well as organic farming and the legal protection of varieties in the EU. Since mid-2003, he has been a legal advisor at the Bulgarian International Business Association (BIBA), currently KRIB. From 2008 to 2010, he was the executive director of the Association of Agricultural Producers in Bulgaria /AZPB/. In the period 2010-2013, he was Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food with portfolios “Land Relations”, “Direct Payments” and “Rural Development Program”.

From November 2013 to the present, he leads the Institute for Agricultural Strategies and Innovations with the aim of informing the general public about the complex political interrelationships at the EU level and interpreting the documents accompanying the creation and implementation of agricultural policies. Institute for Agricultural Strategies and Innovations is the only Bulgarian organization, part of the European consortium “Support Facility for Innovation and Knowledge exchange including EIP-AGRI”, which acts as an intermediary within the EPI-AGRI network (European Partnership for Innovations for Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability) by improving communication and cooperation between all those who have a strong interest in sharing knowledge and innovation in agriculture, forestry and rural areas: farmers, researchers, advisors, companies, environmental groups, user interest groups and other organisations.
Svetlana Boyanova is currently the National Contact Person for the Horizon Europe Framework Program for Research and Innovation, Cluster 6 “Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment”.
Svetlana Boyanova is the driving force behind the founding of the first Bulgarian digital innovation hub for agriculture AgroHub.BG. From June 2022, he is also the head of approvals under the “Digital Europe” program of the European Commission, a European digital innovation hub with a focus on precision agriculture, AgroDigiRise, which builds on AgroHub.BG.

On May 17, 2023, she was elected as the executive director of the Bulgarian Chamber of Agriculture (BAK), the largest association of agricultural producers since 1989 in Bulgaria.
