Radan Kanev

Radan Kanev was born on September 30, 1975 in Sofia. He graduated from the capital’s French high school and graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. He is now a partner in a law firm. He was the chairman of the Bulgarian Youth Red Cross. In 2004, he was one of the founders of the Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria party. On June 23, 2013, he was elected by the National Assembly of the Democrats for a Strong Bulgaria party as its chairman. He is currently the deputy chairman of the party.

He was an MP in the 43rd National Assembly. He held the post of vice-chairman of the Committee on Labor, Social and Demographic Policy and was a member of the Committee for Combating Corruption, Conflict of Interest and Parliamentary Ethics and the Temporary Committee of Inquiry KTB.

In 2019, he was elected as a European Member of Parliament with the list of Democratic Bulgaria – United. It is part of the European People’s Party (EPP) group in the European Parliament.

Radan Kanev is a member of the Committee on Social Policy and Employment and the Committee on Petitions, deputy member of the Committee on Environment, Health Care and Food Safety of the European Parliament.

Participates as a member of the Delegation in the EU-Albania Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee and as a deputy member of the Delegation in the EU-Armenia Parliamentary Partnership Committee, the EU-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee and the EU-Georgia Parliamentary Association Committee and in the Delegation in Euronest Parliamentary Assembly.

He is fluent in English, French and German. He is married with one child.
