Irena Tsakova

Irena Tsakova is Permitting and Legal Director of Dundee’s mining operations in Bulgaria. She handles the tough process of ensuring all legal permits and operational compliance required for Dundee’s prospecting, exploration, mining and processing of copper-gold-pyrite ores from the Chelopech deposit and auriferous ores from the Ada Tepe deposit in Bulgaria. Irena and her team have written remarkable success stories among which projects for the rehabilitation of historically disturbed land and environmental upgrades in Chelopech and the commissioning of the first greenfield mining project in Bulgaria in 40 years (Ada Tepe, Krumovgrad).

Irena is also in charge of establishing and maintaining complex stakeholder relationships in the regions where Dundee operates. Due to her remarkable conflict resolution skills, Irena is highly successful in meeting the requirements of different state institutions and organizations, both civil and governmental. As an inspiring leader, Irena manages a strong team of professionals working in the legal and permitting, compliance, PR and communications area.
