Veronica Manfredi is the Director of the ENV.C Directorate in the Directorate-General for Environment of the European Commission, responsible for zero pollution, water resilience, and green urban transition. In this role, she leads the EU's efforts to achieve ambitious goals in air and water quality, reduction of industrial emissions, and integration of sustainable practices in urban environments. Under her leadership, the directorate actively participates in the development and implementation of key EU policies, including: Clean and Well-Managed Water: protection of all EU freshwater and marine environments, water reuse, flood prevention, and ensuring high health standards for drinking water. Clean Air and Industrial Emissions Control: implementation of air quality directives and control of industrial pollutants. Green Urban Transition: integrating sustainable practices in urban planning and development to achieve a cleaner and greener urban environment. Veronica Manfredi has extensive experience in the European Commission. Prior to her current role, she was Head of the Consumer and Marketing Law Unit in DG Justice. She has also served as a member of the cabinets of Commissioners Frits Bolkestein and Siim Kallas, dealing with issues related to the internal market, administration, audit, and anti-fraud. A lawyer by training, Veronica has deepened her knowledge of international and EU law in Rome, Turin, Kiel, Bruges, and Brussels.
