Tom Berendsen is a Dutch Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from the European People's Party (EPP), currently serving on the Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN). In this role, he advocates for sustainable mobility, innovative logistics solutions, and the promotion of greener tourism across the European Union. Originally from Breda, the Netherlands, Berendsen brings extensive experience from both the European Commission and the private sector, where he worked on sustainability and energy policy. In the European Parliament, he is a strong supporter of regional development and the green transition, focusing on digitalisation, innovation, and efficient use of EU funds. Berendsen is a proponent of a "smarter Europe" – one that is competitive, inclusive, and future-oriented. In addition to his role in TRAN, he is also active in the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE), with key interests in circular economy policies and energy resilience.
