Richard Takáč

Richard Takáč is a Slovak politician from the Direction – Social Democracy (SMER-SD) party, born on May 10, 1982, in Prievidza, Slovakia. He graduated from the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra, specializing in phytotechnics. Before entering politics, he worked at the Slovak Land Fund and served as a director in private companies within the furniture industry. In 2013, he became a deputy in the Trenčín regional parliament, and since 2020, he has been a member of the National Council of Slovakia. On October 25, 2023, he was appointed Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development in the government led by Robert Fico.
As minister, Takáč focuses on combating unfair trading practices in the food supply chain, advocating for stricter regulations at the European level. He also coordinates efforts to address outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease in Slovakia, seeking compensation from the European Commission for affected farmers.
