Christophe Hansen

Christophe Hansen is a Luxembourgish politician and member of the Christian Social People’s Party (CSV). Since December 1, 2024, he has served as the European Commissioner for Agriculture and Food. Born on February 21, 1982, in Wiltz, Luxembourg, Hansen holds a master’s degree in Geosciences, Environmental Sciences, and Risk Management from Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg.
Prior to his appointment as Commissioner, Hansen was a Member of the European Parliament, where he served as the European People’s Party coordinator on the Committee on International Trade and was the rapporteur for key regulations, including the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement and the Deforestation Regulation.
As Commissioner, Hansen focuses on strengthening the competitiveness, resilience, and sustainability of the agricultural sector, developing a vision for the future of agriculture and food in the EU. He works to ensure fair incomes for farmers, promote investment and innovation in the agri-food sector, and develop strategies for generational renewal in agriculture.
