Carla Tavares is a Portuguese Member of the European Parliament representing the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D). As a member of the Committee on Budgets (BUDG), she serves as Co-Rapporteur on the post-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF), where she focuses on promoting economic, social, and territorial cohesion across the EU. Before her election to the European Parliament in July 2024, Tavares served as the Mayor of Amadora for over a decade, leading initiatives in sustainable urban development and social inclusion. Her extensive experience in public service also includes roles as Deputy Mayor and as a member of the Portuguese Parliament.​ In her parliamentary work, Tavares advocates for prioritizing investments in healthcare, education, and digital transformation, emphasizing their critical role in shaping Europe's future.​
